Sad Life
I wanted to post the following entry on Blogger just now. However, Blogger refused to work for me, hence I decided to post it on my MSN Spaces. So now I'm going to post it back here. (In blue)
Nah, I don't have a sad life. This life story (which I tried to recall and type here for as much I can) belongs to my sister's Maths teacher, Mr. Ng.
His life is damn sad la. I feel like crying.
His mother died (of what I don't know) when he was only four. Then, because of financial and some other difficulties, he was sent away from his father to a guardian where he would be taken care of.
He had just lost his mother - and now his father. So soon. But he had no choice but to leave, as it was arranged and under the command of his father.
All while under the care of this guardian, he only visited his father twelve times a year. On average, it's only once a month.
He was only so young - but he had no one to rely on. To him it felt like his father wanted to get rid of him.
Because his grades in primary school wasn't that terrific, his father told him, "I'll let you come back home if you do well in your studies."
He worked very hard. For his PSLE, he had very good grades, comparatively to his past results. In the past, he had never passed his English. But in PSLE, he got a B. Which is a great improvement, wasn't it?
But his father was still not satisfied. The father didn't let him go home.
So the poor child thought to himself, "I'll do better in my 'O' Levels, so that I can go home."
All through his secondary school life, all he wanted was to do well, so that he could go home and stay with his father. He did not study for any scholarships or positions or anything. He just wanted to go back home.
Home - sounds so easy and yet so far.
So after a period of four years, which was so hard and difficult for him to pass, he finally waited for the day of his 'O' Level results. He looked at the slip and counted his L1R5. He got a 10. Just how many people in Singapore taking 'O' Levels can get a 10? Excitedly, he showed it to his father in the hope that he would be accepted, so that he could reunite with his distant father.
Nah, he failed in the attempt to be accepted. Same old reason, his grades weren't good enough.
Dejected, he began to grow hatred for his father. He started blaming him for not giving him the care and attention he needed, the compliments for his hard work and the times that he needed him.
But he still longed for a proper home - with his father, to have dinner with him everyday, to be able to see, hear from and talk to everyday. It's just a wish, a simple wish, which couldn't be fulfilled easily.
Hence, in his JC life, he studied super hard. It was for the same reason, the same cause, the same purpose, the same aim - to be able to go home.
All those while, he knew that he studied so that he could go home.
Go home - it's just so simple. Something that you and me do everyday. Something that we take for granted. Something that we never appreciated.
But to him it just meant too much.
After another two years of tears and hardship, he finally made it. He finally achieved his goal, his dreams... He was finally accepted and was allowed home. Upon hearing the news, all he could do was to tear...
Now, ten years had passed. He had lived with his father for ten years. But he'll never grow sick of it, because it was something that he had fought so hard for.
Something, precious.

Any advice, anything to talk about? Don't seal it up. Just let it all out here! (:
