Asian Civilisation Museum (1)
Yesterday, Friday, 28/7/06, Mr Eng, Watson, Serene, Jesmine Cai, Jasmine Lee, Esther, Chee Hoe, Mary, Aisha, Lester and I went to the Asian Civilisation Museum.
I forgot which MRT station we stopped at, but we walked a long, long way to have our dinner.
Let me start off with everything.
My school ended at 3.10 pm. So, Aisha, Grace, Mary, Sourisha and I slacked in the canteen. I was super hungry, so I ate my tomato minced meat soup again. Soon, we were talking.
Jia Qi and Richard came over while I was eating. Jia Qi said that he didn't want to go (becuse Danis had gone home and they will be the only guys going) while Richard said he wanted to go but Jia Qi and Danis aren't going. Aiya, they always give lots of excuses.
Mary: But Chee Hoe is going!! Richard: Who else is going? Mary listed all the names of the girls. Richard: Then it's all girls what. Even Chee Hoe. (He's joking la. He just didn't want to go.)
They then said bye bye.
We arranged to meet at 5.30 pm at Causeway Point. So when it was 5.15 pm, we left the school. Then we saw a Mr Eng-look-alike walking in front of us. Grace kept saying that it was Mr Eng. Mary insisted that it was not. I wanted to call to confirm, but I figured that I wasn't that close to Mr Eng yet, so I gave up the thought.
When we reached Causeway Point, we found out that almost everyone would be late. So I kinda got a little pissed off at their irresponsibility. Then, I called Mr Eng at 5.30 pm. Found out that he was just about to leave school. Argh. However, I tolerated. But I wasn't that happy. Not with Mr Eng la. More of like, hormonal imbalance. 'Cos I was really tired, and I didn't get a rest all day. Still have to wait for them, somemore my bag was super heavy. And I had my period.
Chee Hoe was shopping in Popular and he came down to meet us. He told me he saw Ms Wong. And that she could possibly be waiting for her boyfriend. So he dragged me to the place he spotted her. Nonetheless, we almost had to comb through the rest of the second floor before he spotted her again inside Metro. Wow. I was super amazed. He really has good eyesight (or do I have poorer eyesight, or less concentration than him), is sharp and perhaps 'cos he's tall.
She thought we were stalking her. LOL. But we only wanted to catch another glimpse of her boyfriend. Haha. Soon, he came, and they went off. I couldn't believe how young he looked. But Chee Hoe confirmed that he IS her boyfriend. Well, I don't really care. He doesn't look my type. We then went back to meet the others.
Mr Eng finally came and after some more dragging of our feet, we moved into the MRT cabin. It was so packed - we almost became sardines! I was trying very hard to maintain my stability (luckily I had a wider and heavier base). When we reached Admiralty, there was this 2 bimbos who boarded the train. I don't know what's wrong with them, but whenever the MRT jerked, they fall onto each other and laugh in this high pitched irritating tone. I kept rolling my eyes.
As the train moved on, luckily for us, more people got off. But we stood throughout the journey. I wondered how I managed to survive then.
After coming out of some road called Six Battery Road, we saw the Singapore River... It was pretty nice. Aisha started standing on one of the stone bricks and wanted me to take a picture of her on her handphone.
Before leaving the MRT station, Mr Eng went to withdraw some money. Jesmine thought that he might wanna pay for our dinner. So after the photo-taking session, I talked to Mr Eng.
Mr Eng: Yes, Christy? Me: Erm, I don't know whether you have the intention la. But if you do, can you please not pay for our dinner? Mr Eng: I've never had that intention. (I was so so so so so so embarrassed!!!) Me: Ah, good. Then don't. Mr Eng: I'm too poor la. I can afford cheaper stuff, but certainly not pay for your dinner. That's too much. Me: Precisely! Just don't pay. I know you don't have a lot of money. Mr Eng: That's all? Me: Yeah. Mr Eng: I thought you wanted to tell me something that was really important. Me: Erm, if there were anything like that, I'd come and talk to you again.
Then I joined Mary.
We were standing before the stretch of pubs and bars along the Singapore River. They wanted to eat at some PitStop or something like that. It's a restaurant. Mary and I nearly freaked out. We only had 10 bucks on us each. How to eat at a restaurant??? We badly wanted to go to MacDonalds' but they refused to. Initially, Mary and I had planned to eat Burger King at Causeway Point. So I was really scared.
When we first started walking across the stretch, the smell of alcohol was intoxicating. Lots of expatriates were standing around each other, holding a mug of beer. I knitted my eyebrows and looked at them. They looked at me back. Argh, I just wanted to leave that place. Do they have to drink everyday???
As we walked past some seafood restaurants promoting their stuff to the passer-bys, they never stopped to look at us. They aimed the people behind us. Smart. We would never be eating there anyway.
We then walked through a supposedly "dark alley" as described by Aisha. I walked alongside Mary. We found this PitStop place and they climbed up the stairs. Of course we were folllow suit. Then the people at the front were like, "Why are you guys up here? We are not eating here." Oh man, how would I know?
Finally, we settled at a super small kopitiam with only 4 pathetic stalls. I ordered my all-time favourite - Mee Hoon Kuay. I saw Lester having Bundung and I couldn't resist the urge as well. However, it was too sweet and I finished three-quarters of it before ordering Tonic Water again. It tasted much much much nicer.
Yawnz.... I feel sleepy. Continue the story tomorrow... Nites.
