Andrew Kuan
Hmm. Many of you might not know who Andrew Kuan is, but here I shall tell you guys who he is.
Recently, he has applied and is trying to run for this year's President.
Well, not that I look down on him or anything (I seriously do not), but people have commented that he doesn't have the looks of a President. Not that our President Nathan has, but more of, like, most of the times, you know whether one person is going to make it big in the future by just looking at his facial features.
Hence, it just suggested that even if he is qualified to take part in the elections, he has a kind of, very low chance to win the elections.
Secondly, he might not have enough supporters. Let's just assume that he qualifies for the elections. As you guys know, our present President is a non-Chinese. That means that a lot of other non-Chinese might vote for him. And there are lots of Chinese who likes him. In addition, during the "reign" of President Nathan, we do not see much of a bad political change, do we? So many people might be thinking, "why not vote for him again? Since he has proven himself." And I agree as well. And lots of organisations, be it government based or not, support him in running for elections again this year.
Thirdly, it boils down to qualifying for the elections. One of the criterion is that you have to be an ability to manage your finances well. So he Andrew Kuan has listed down all the finances-managing posts he held in various corporations, such as the JTC and Hyflux.
So when I saw for the first time in newspapers, that some people thought that he was too stuck up and others though otherwise, I knew that it bode trouble for him. That's because to win elections, one of the most important thing is that people come to a good consensus of you.
And I was correct.
It came later on that he was being sued for accusations. Hmm. And he said that he wasn't going to apologise. Which means an "uh-oh".
And on National Day, PM Lee Hsien Loong said something running along the line that there must be a reason why Andrew Kuan changed jobs so frequently over the last few years. Some people thought that when PM Lee mentions Andrew Kuan, it means that the former is in favour of the latter and thus the latter might win the elections.
I thought otherwise. When PM Lee stated the negative trend out, it simply implies that Andrew Kuan is unable to stay at a job for long. It hence should mean that Andrew Kuan isn't very suitable for running this year's elections.
And I watched on TV last night. The CEO of JTC (Jurong Town Corporation) held a reporter's session to share the reason why Andrew Kuan didn't stay at they job of CFO for long. That was because after he had worked for a year, JTC wasn't very satisfied with Andrew Kuan's performance. He was asked to leave but he begged for a second chance. Well, he still didn't perform at the end of 2 years and was asked to leave. However, he gave some other excuses and hence left JTC after 3 years.
And the same thing with Hyflux as well. The CEO of Hyflux said over the telephone interview that the whole decision making committee thought that Andrew Kuan didn't perform up to standard yet and was asked to leave. Which means that Andrew Kuan doesn't have a very good skill of managing his finances and hence is unsuitable for elections. And the CEO of Hyflux even said that Andrew Kuan left Hyflux after 2.5 months. Which means that to them, he still worked for them when he had the intention to run for presidency and that it implied to them that he worked for them for fun.
Well, this is terribly sad. Nothing seems to go well for him yet. I don't actually care a lot about him, and my blog today isn't propaganda, but up till today, whatever I had heard of him is more disadvantageous for his running for presidency. I don't know how he is going to clear up the mess, but I have a caution for all of you here:
If you guys are ever interested in running for presidency, please make sure you reflect on everything you have done in your life and make sure that none of them will cause you to fall before you even decide to take the application form.
And make sure that you are very TRANSPARENT. It is something, like the media and government's job to dig up whatever shit you had in your life and weigh them before they qualify you for the elections. And these dug-up shit will be all exposed in the newspapers for all Singaporeans to see. Which.. isn't very nice to you, huh?
Sigh. That's why, I have never decided to go for presidency. Not because my life is full of shit, (which apparently and really, seriously and truly isn't) but more of, they are going to run me down like shit because I have used vulgarities in my life before.
Which is something... that everyone uses, but the guy running for presidency should never use.
